The neighborhoods close to the quarry are Wimbledon Woods on the north, Palisade on the west, and Highland on the north. We understand that additional traffic from development at the Quarry will be a major concern of residents of these neighborhoods. This is understandable, as too much vehicle traffic can degrade a neighborhood's quality of life, that is why Quarry Village is designed to minimize vehicle trips.
The conventional development most likely to occur on the site is conventional two story apartments or condominiums with parking underneath. The site can hold about 500 such units and is likely to have 1,500 parking spaces. Traffic is usually a function of the number of bedrooms, which would be about 1,000 in this case. Bedrooms generate about 4 vehicle trips per day each, for a total of 4,000 vehicle trips per day.
Quarry Village will produce more trips, but they will be mostly person trips, not vehicle trips. With only 100 parking spaces, the Quarry is likely to generate about 400 car trips and 200 transit vehicle trips, for a total of 600 vehicle trips, less than one sixth of what would occur otherwise. This means less traffic going through your neighborhood, and safer less congested streets.
