Depending on cars fosters an unhealthy, sedentary lifestyle. Driving everywhere, even to reach a gym, reduces walking. At Quarry Village, walking is part of everyday life. Parking is limited and at the edge of the village. Less traffic means less air pollution, less threat of auto accidents, and a relaxed feeling from less noise and more safety on village walkways.
More recreation is easy for those who wish. A fitness center is on the second floor of the office. Miles of hiking trails are nearby. The Bypass Trail on the north side will bridge over Dobbel Creek and connect across Highland Blvd. to the Ward Creek Trail, which leads to an indoor pool, tennis courts, and picnic areas at Memorial Park. On the south side the Bypass Trail will connect to Garin Dry Creek Regional Park. The Dobbel Creek Trail will come east up Dobbel Creek and cross Campus Drive to the campus.
The Hidden Hills Tennis and Racquet Club is just up the hill from Quarry Village, and has numerous tennis courts, a swimming pool, and locker rooms, with membership fees.
